| Fun & Educational Activities |
|
|
|
Woodpeckers Nursery
provides a well-planned programme that helps children achieve their
maximum potential.
A day at Woodpeckers
Nursery includes one-to-one sessions, group learning, music,
computers, drama, creative activities and mainly learning through
free play.
Broadly we look at the
whole child, make observations about the children, and use them to
plan activities for individuals and groups of children to extend
their learning experiences. |

| The Early
Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) |
|
|
The EYFS for 0 - 5 year olds
came into place in September 2008. At Woodpeckers our staff
took part in the 2008 Pilot Training Scheme, as well as
further training since. There are four principal themes: |
|
:: Unique Child |
|
:: Positive Relationships |
|
:: Enabling Environments
|
|
:: Learning and the
Environment |
|
Broadly we look at the whole
child, make observations about the children, and use them to
plan activities for individuals and groups of children to
extend their learning experiences. Records and assessments
are kept of each child's progress, and these are shared
regularly with the parents so as to encourage a partnership
between parents, carers and the child to support their
learning.

Community Visits & Workshops |
|
|
|
Woodpeckers links with many local schools providing their extended
care (looking after their children before and after school) |
|
Woodpeckers Nursery supports the local Phoenix Children's Centre
by running and staffing their crèche facilities. |
|
We regularly take the
children out into the local community to take part in workshops at
Gainsborough House, visit to Pets at Home, Charles Church Housing
Development, Waitrose to encourage healthy shopping, and we have fun
with the Alpacas in Long Melford |
|
We also visit the church to see the Christmas Lights in the
festive season! |

This is always a favorite
with parents & children. We hire the village hall at Lavenham, have
professional entertainment for the children, food for everybody, and
a visit from Father Christmas. It's a super time to meet together
and hove fun! |

For many years now we
have been to Frinton taking 3 or more coaches of children and
parents for a day by the sea. It is a wonderful time together and
tea and coffee at the beach hut makes the day complete! |
