Welcome to Bright Butterflies!

Our Pre School education room accommodates 24 children, with experienced trained staff to stimulate young minds and support the children in every way.

 

Children are encouraged to achieve the Early Learning Goals through structured play, group, and individually planned activities, and a planned environment which provides many opportunities for exploration and learning.

 

Skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening, an understanding of mathematical concepts in addition to music and computer based activities help form a positive start for each child, and prepare them for school.

Free Early Learning For Three and Four Year Olds

With government funding available for children over 3 we are able to offer education for children until they are 5 years of age with the added bonus of wrap around care from 08:00 - 18:00, for busy parents who are working.

Healthy Eating

Meals are cooked daily on the premises by our resident cook using wherever possible fresh locally sourced ingredients. Our menu is designed to encourage "healthy eating", with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Your Child & Medical Care

We strive to deal with any medical problems your child may have. We work alongside doctors and medical health professionals as well as taking on extra training for staff if this is needed. This would also involve working closely with parents and carers.
 
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The EYFS for 0 - 5 year olds came into place in September 2008. At Woodpeckers our staff took part in the 2008 Pilot Training Scheme, as well as further training since. There are four principal themes:

Broadly we look at the whole child, make observations about the children, and use them to plan activities for individuals and groups of children to extend their learning experiences. Records and assessments are kept of each child's progress, and these are shared regularly with the parents so as to encourage a partnership between parents, carers and the child to support their learning.

 
 
Key Practitioners

Suffolk County Council supports the development of high quality early education in a variety of ways. This includes support, advice and guidance from the area educational teams and comprehensive training programme. A number of practitioners have been identified who have strengths in a particular area, these are called Key practitioners. We use elements of their good practice to share with colleagues.

Deirdre Micklewright is a key practitioner for ages 0 - 5. Other settings visit us to see this good practice in operation in all areas of the nursery including The Hideout, our out of School club for 5 - 12 years.

Catering for parents need for care for their children when they start school. Children now enjoy a purpose built room, totally independent from the nursery, which provides a superb environment for children to relax and enjoy each others company.
